About One Acre Fund

Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund supplies smallholder farmers with the agricultural services they need to make their farms vastly more productive. We provide quality farm supplies on credit, delivered within walking distance of farmers homes, and agricultural trainings to improve harvests. We measure our success by our ability to make farmers more prosperous: On average, farmers harvest 50 percent more food after working with One Acre Fund.

We are growing quickly. We currently serve more than 800,000 farm families in Eastern and Southern Africa, with more than 7,500 full-time staff, and we aim to serve 1 million farm families by 2020.

Job Description

One Acre Fund is seeking a highly organized administrative professional. We are looking for a candidate who truly enjoys all facets of administration, data synthesis, and office management.

Examples of responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to a comfortable, inspiring and productive work environment for 15+ NY-based staff, enabling them to drive impact for our clients. Examples include:

  • Management of office space inc. facilitating meeting room bookings and coordinating visits by colleagues based in countries of operation

  • Maintaining relationships with vendors and building management

  • Sending/receiving mail and scanning/copying/printing

  • Planning/executing events, from office-wide meetings to large-scale fundraising events

  • Handling office administration tasks to ensure One Acre Fund is legally compliant and communicating effectively with partners, donors, and other stakeholders. Examples include:

  • Managing legal & compliance (e.g. annual fundraising registration renewals)

  • Support with annual audit process across multiple departments

  • Answering external email inquiries (e.g. potential donors, people with questions about our work, interested volunteers or partner organizations)

  • Donor stewardship & support (e.g. tracking payments, Salesforce data entry, preparing and mailing holiday gifts to donors)

  • Supporting our Human Resources, Operations, Finance and Development Teams to achieve their goals. Examples include:

  • Supporting senior leadership in planning and coordinating annual trip to Skoll World Forum and Chicago Gala

  • Regular support processing payments and donations

  • Regular support with outreach to US agencies (e.g. IRS and state unemployment insurance body) to resolve identified issues

Qualifications

Candidates who fit the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • Strong administrative professional with 3+ years work experience
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral. Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent judgement and confidentiality in sensitive people issues with strong relationship management
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and change priorities as new responsibilities arise
  • Fluency in Microsoft Excel, experience with Google Office and Salesforce a plus
  • Demonstrated interest in part-time work arrangement for the long-term
  • Humility. We are looking for passionate professionals who combine strong leadership skills with good humor, patience, and a humble approach to service to join our growing family of leaders
  • A demonstrated interest in or understanding of international development
